We drove from Kuala Lumpur to Lumut where we took a ferry to Pangkor Island. Before reaching Lumut, we made a detour to Teluk Intan which we read, is famous for their seafood. It's a pretty small town and we didn't find anywhere that serves seafood. Anyway, we landed in a restaurant that looked decent enough. There was a table of Indian men drinking till they were drunk. 1 of them was shouting away and even threw a beer bottle across the room! Aiyoh! I was so worried for us! Other patrons sitting close to them all shifted to another dining room. The lady boss told 1 of them to leave or she will call the police. And so, they left, stumbling out of the restaurant. Later, the lady boss told me that these people are loan sharks and famous for their criminal acts in Teluk Intan. She called the police eventually when the Indian guy who threw the bottle wanted to drive. The police came only when all the commotion had died down....just like watching a movie...hahaha...
We had a relaxing time while in Pangkor. MAH-Let could swim and build sandcastles everyday. We also could see tiny crabs building their own little tunnels and making little balls. Very interesting. Monkeys were everywhere and they visited us many times. There was even once when the monkey tried to open our balcony door! So clever! MAH-Ge open and shut the door to scare the bugger and found them sitting outside our balcony having stolen peanuts!
The resort also has lots of little seen Rhinoceros Hornbills. MAH-Ge said that people will go into rainforests to spot these birds while there are so many here! The hotel will feed these birds everyday at 6pm. What a sight!
Lunches and dinners were taken in the tiny town in Pangkor Island. The food is really cheap and good and the seafood is fresh! Hope to go there again...maybe with our friends from Austalia, Kathryn and Peter. They will like it here...
