Peter and Kathryn are friends whom we met while we cruised on the SuperStar Gemini in 2001. We have kept in contact and have been pals since then. Shame is, we've never gone to Perth to visit them while they've already been to Singapore 3 times! Oh, yes, we did meet briefly when I was in Perth in 2003, working on SuperStar Virgo's brief stay there.
Each time they come, we bring them to places which are not visited by tourists. They've been to our place, to see how we locals live in legoland; on a drive around Geylang to see the flesh trade; Sungei Road (the thieves' market); Upper Pierce Reservoir to see people fish, camp and barbeque there; A walk on the boardwalk in Changi; eaten local food like chicken rice at Boon Tong Kee; Roxy's laksa, Indian Rojak, Wan Ton Mee at East Coast; tasted local ice cream (between 2 thin wafers) on Changi beach; drank teh tarik along Beach Road; had roti prata in Jalan Kayu; ate tao huay (bean curd) in Rochor and much much more.
They are now on a cruise on the Gemini for 3 weeks! How fortunate! We would have love to do that cruise too! Pity....we don't have the time. Anyway, we're planning to bring them to Pulau Ubin when they return from their cruise.
